America's Credit Union Privacy Disclosure
In compliance with the Financial Modernization Act of 1999 (also known as the Gramm-Leach-Bliley Act), America's Credit Union provides you with this statement detailing our efforts and commitment to maintain your personal information. In accordance with the law, members will receive this statement at the time membership is established with the Credit Union and yearly thereafter.
As a Member, You're an Owner
America's Credit Union is owned and managed by its members through a Board of Directors elected by the membership. Protecting personal information and using it in a manner consistent with your expectations is a high priority for everyone associated with your Credit Union. We are required by law to give you this privacy notice to explain how we collect, use and safeguard your personal financial information.
America's Credit Union is committed to providing you with products and services to meet your financial needs and to assist you with reaching your financial goals. To accomplish this we must partner with other businesses. This requires us to share information about you to complete your request for services and transactions, or to provide you with financial opportunities or to notify you of your member benefits.
Your Credit Union will only partner with businesses that follow strict confidentiality standards and we will only select businesses that offer products designed to enhance you and your family’s economic well being. Under no circumstance do we authorize these firms to charge your account without your express consent and we do not sell member information to any telemarketing firms under any circumstance.
To ensure the you can rely upon the quality of products and services we offer, your Credit Union strictly adheres to the following Member Privacy Policy: Information we collect and may disclose about you in order to professionally serve you with the competitive financial products and services that you may need, America's Credit Union collects nonpublic personal information about you from a variety of sources:
- From your membership and loan applications or other forms, we obtain information such as name, address, taxpayer identification number, assets and income.
- From your transactions with us or other companies that work closely with us to provide you with financial products and services, we obtain information such as account balances, payment history, parties to transactions and credit card usage.
- From consumer reporting agencies, we obtain information such as your creditworthiness and credit history.
- From ‘verification authorization’ you provide on applications and other forms, we obtain information from current and past employers, other financial institutions and other sources listed on the application.
We may disclose all the information we collect as described above, to companies that perform marketing services on our behalf or to other financial institutions with which we have a joint marketing agreement. America's Credit Union does not sell your personal information nor do any of our business partners. Again, by partnering with other businesses we are able to offer you additional products and services and we will take efforts to notify you of all services available at your Credit Union.
If you terminate your membership with America's Credit Union, we will not share information we have collected about you, except as permitted or required by law.
In addition, America's Credit Union may disclose the above detailed nonpublic personal information to nonaffiliated third parties so that we can provide you with the products and services that you request. These nonaffiliated third party providers may include service providers, companies in which we have a joint marketing agreement with or nonaffiliated third parties that process and service transactions on the Credit Union’s behalf. For example:
- Financial service providers such as mortgage and insurance companies.
- Non-financial companies such as our data processor and ATM network providers.
- Others, such as mail houses, to process member statements or perform mailings on our behalf to notify members of America's Credit Union products and services.
How We Protect Your Information
America's Credit Union maintains strong security controls to ensure to nonpublic personal information and is restricted to those America's Credit Union employees who need to know the information in order to provide products and services to you. We maintain physical, electronic and procedural safeguards that comply with federal regulations and ensure confidentiality of your nonpublic personal information.
You will always have access to your information. As a member of America's Credit Union, you will always have the opportunity to review your information and make necessary changes to ensure our records are complete and accurate.
“Opt Out” at America's Credit Union is not required
Because America's Credit Union does not share member information with nonaffiliated third parties who do not perform services on our behalf or who are not a joint marketer, nor do we permit our business partners to share member information, we are not required to provide you with an “opt out” form.
This may not be the case with other financial institutions you have a relationship with and they may be required to give you an “opt out” choice within their Privacy Statement. On occasion, your Credit Union may directly notify you of new or additional member benefits for you to consider and take advantage of. This is our commitment to let you know of ways to save time and money with America's Credit Union products and services. These efforts do not dictate the requirement of an “opt out” choice.
